How-To Create Some Beautiful Floral, Wreath and Leaf Crafts For Your Fall Decorating Purposes

As you know there is just something about the Fall decorating season that just inspires me to craft.  For sure it definitely gets my muse in overdrive.

Every year around this time I can start to feel it. This urge to create that starts to show itself, again.

It starts slowly and builds gradually until it reaches a full-blown crescendo in November. But, I can feel it starting and I know that I won't have any control over it, once again.  You can't fight your muse, so why not enjoy it.

I find myself wanting to sew, create floral arrangements or craft something.  Anything. LOL

Due to all the different types of crafts I've learned over the years the media could be anything: from mixed media, to paper-clay sculpting, painting, sewing, paper crafts, stamping, etc. You just never know.

Or, I have to sew some more dolls or other fabric decorations. Like I need any more crafts! But, that's a subject for another article!

The point is, I just have to create - SOMETHING! ANYTHING! The more the merrier! At least as far as I'm concerned.  Hubby - well, that's another matter.  LOL

Of course, my husband would say; "Why don't you create doing the housework!" Nah! That's no fun.

My muse has got a creative mind all its own. And, it definitely urges me in one direction. It doesn't do housework so look out, anyone or anything that gets in its way. HaHa....

Forget the housework - what's a little dirt and dust! Forget the shopping - who needs to eat! Forget the bills - YIKES!!! Forget the family! Oh, boy! That's a no-no! Forget eating - that's okay - it's called creativity dieting!

So, what is it during this season that takes over? I'm not sure but I know that I'm not alone with this. Many crafters that I've talked to tell me that they also experience this. It might be at different times of the year, but they know when it's starting. Maybe it's a crafting thing? When you're in the "crafting", "creating" mode you are "IN THE MODE."

Creative ideas invade your thoughts. I've even had them invade my dreams. You can't sleep - you have to get up and write down your thoughts.  Better keep a pad of paper and pencil next to the bed!

And, when I'm in the mode, I'll craft or sew a lot of things. I might put together multiple numbers of floral arrangements, or anything else that I seem to want to create.

I don't know about you, but I'm a little obsessive when it comes to my sewing. I have to cut everything out first, then sew everything, then put everything together. That means if I have 20 items to cut out I cut all twenty before I start to sew anything. The same holds true for crafting.

In any event, I never said my way was the way to go about it. It's just my way of feeding my muse. Maybe I should call it my "overly obsessive creative muse?"

I'd like to say that my muse has only occurred when I was an adult except that wouldn't be true.

As a child I loved to sew all my Christmas presents and Fall is a perfect time to start on Christmas presents? I come from a large family so there were quite a few presents to make.

Maybe it's the act of making presents to give to my loved ones? Generosity drives it? Hmmm..... Probably not.

Maybe it's because for every holiday as a child I would scour the woods for materials to make a centerpiece? Or, every holiday season the family would gather together to make a new Christmas decoration? Hmmm.... Probably not.

Maybe it's just because I come from a family of crafters and sewers? It's just plain in my genes - in my DNA. Hmmm.......

Is that possible? Can a person have a creative muse in their DNA? Hmmmm......

I don't know. I just know that I'm not alone with this. Other crafters have told me they, too, have felt their muse is in overdrive. I know my sister does.  It always invades her sleep. Maybe the both of us have "creative muses" in our DNA?

I don't know if I'll ever find out. Maybe, however, I should stop worrying about it and just enjoy the "creative" moments?

Since Fall is one of my favorite seasons of the year it pleases me immensely to ponder which Fall decorations to display this year. Truth be told I've made a lot of them.  I simply can't help it - I love to decorate.

So I thought you might enjoy a few free how-to's now for creating some beautiful floral, wreath and leaf crafts that you can use for your Fall decorating purposes. If you're anything like me you need plenty of time between now and the Fall to create all your decorations.   Just click on the link below for the craft you're interested in.

Enjoy your muse. It really does have your best interests at heart. Hmmmmmm.... Does it?

Boo! Hoo! Billy Primitive Ghost Ornament Free E-Pattern For "Nice" Halloween Decorating

We all know that ghosts are supposed to be scary! That's their job - to scare everyone at Halloween, especially the little children.

Well, what if there's a ghost that doesn't want to scare anyone - especially little children.

A ghost that just wants to be friends with everyone and a ghost that doesn't just want to be visible at one time of the year.

A ghost that wants to celebrate Christmas, and New Year's Day, and St. Patrick's Day, and Easter, and the 4Th of July, and any of the other holidays.

A ghost that wants to have a family someday of 12 little ghosts running around.

A ghost that is nice and kind and thoughtful and considerate.

Well, that would be "Boo! Hoo! Billy."

"Boo! Hoo! Billy" is tired of being viewed as mean and nasty and malicious.

He's never been nor does he ever want to be anything like that.

He just wants to be a normal person with a normal life.

Is that too much to ask?

"Boo! Hoo! Billy" doesn't think so.

"Boo! Hoo! Billy" is a 7" primitive ghost ornament with a coffee stained white muslin cloth body and embroidered face. He is wearing a shredded shirt that he thinks fits him very well and isn't frightful at all. In fact, he will right proudly tell you that he made it himself.

Not only is he a very friendly ghost, but a very handy one, too.

He'll need to be after all if he wants to have 12 little ghosts someday.

Wouldn't you agree?

Care For Some Brew, Virginia Primitive Halloween Witch Free E-Pattern - She's Frightening!

If you're looking for a frightening witch decoration to make for this Halloween season they don't get more frightening than my "care For Some Brew, Virginia" primitive witch ornament.

I'll get you my pretty!

Yes, I will!"

YIKES!

Not only is she a nasty sounding witch, but a really scary one to boot! Maybe that's why she's an extreme primitive. The scarier - the better.

Well, they don't get much nastier or scarier than "Can For Some Brew, Virginia!"

I don't know about you, but I don't think I'd accept anything from "Care For Some Brew, Virginia!" Would you?

If you did I'm not too sure what would happen to you.

Would you get sick? Maybe!

Would you melt? Maybe if you're lucky

Would you be so delusional you'd start to think "Care For Some Brew, Virgina! wasn't scary?

Maybe, but you'd have to be out of your mind for that?

"Care For Some Brew, Virginia!" is a 9" extreme primitive witch ornament and has a coffee stained cloth body with an embroidered watercolor penciled face.

She is wearing fringed bloomers, a fringed dress, fringed and banded apron, has raffia wrapped ties around her legs and feet. She also has a fringed cap and, of course, a witch's hat.

Her ugly ragged gray yarn hair just compliments her extreme primitive appearance. Wouldn't you agree?

Care for some brew?  Or should I say, "Dare for some brew?"

Crowin Mike Primitive Scarecrow Doll Ornament Free E-Pattern

When decorating for Fall you just can't have enough little doll ornaments to hang just about anywhere or to place in some little nook or cranny.   So, I thought you might enjoy a free e-pattern from one of my ornament e-patterns.

His name is “Crowin Mike” and he is a 9” handmade primitive scarecrow doll ornament.

As far as "Crowin Mike" is concerned there are scarecrows and there are SCARECROWS! And, then there is "Crowin Mike!"

You're probably wondering what's so different about "Crowin Mike!" as I'm sure he looks like any other scarecrow. In fact, he looks quite charming and harmless. Well, you'd be wrong.

You see "Crowin Mike" is a primitive scarecrow ornament with a penchant for witches, ghosts, and goblins.

Hang out with crows! Oh, no - not "Crowin Mike!" They're just a bunch of birds.

He wants to hang out with the "villains" of the Fall season - the ghosts, goblins, and witches. Why, "Crowin Mike" even claims to be friends with Frankenstein and Dracula.

In fact, his favorite movie is "The Headless Horseman!" Oh, My!

What kind of a scarecrow is "Crowin Mike?" Well, actually he's quite the actor.  He had you all fooled - didn't he?

However, he really is an adorable scarecrow. Amiable, kind, and willing to lend a hand where ever he can.

He's even willing to help the ghosts, goblins and witches do their thing. Fooled you again, - didn't he?

"Crowin Mike!" is a 9" primitive scarecrow ornament and has coffee stained cloth body with an embroidered and watercolor penciled face.

He is wearing a fringed and patched shirt and fringed and patched plaid pants. He's also sporting a floppy flannel hat, orange and natural colored raffia hair, and lace tied boots with patches.

He is quite the scarecrow and quite happy to "crow" about his appearance. Ask him to "crow" about his "villain" friends - well, that's another matter.

Based on his name you'd think he'd be "crowin" about what he knows - but, he won't. Crowin Mike's lips are sealed.

A Bit Of a Challenge - Free Primitive Annie Witch E-Pattern

With Halloween coming up in the Fall I thought you might like a little sewing challenge with creating a primitive witch decoration.

She's a lot of fun to make but,  can be quite frightening when she wants to be.  She is a witch for sure.

Sometimes she gets lonely and tries to be nice. After all, everyone needs a little company from time to time. Even Primitive Witchy Annie.

The truth is she'd actually like to have some real friends. That way she could always call them when she's lonely and when she can feel a real "Watch Out My Pretty I'm Going To Get You!" mood coming on.

Primitive Witchy Annie has a coffee stained cloth body and embroidered face with black bead eyes.  She's wearing a coffee stained, tattered, and fringed dress, a tattered apron with bow, and gathered bloomers.

She has lace-tied boots, patches on her clothes and wild black hair along the sides and top of her head. Her raggedy leg stripes are sewn on with black floss.

She has a lined cape with patches and wired witches hat.

Because she has a lined cape she feels she is a little above the rest of the witches. They only have wool or black felt capes. Nothing as nice as Primitive Annie Witch has. Wouldn't you agree?

So, do you want to be her friend? She promises she'll try to prevent her ""Watch Out My Pretty I'm Going To Get You!" mood from coming on.

If you want to be her friend just don't wear any "ruby red slippers" when you come to visit. They bring back too many bad memories for her and might just trigger that "Watch Out My Pretty I'm Going To Get You!" mood coming on.

Please note: My free e-pattern shows you how to make a 15" primitive witch doll.  The chair that is pictured is not included in the directions.

Free Primitive Andy Frankenstein E-Pattern For Halloween Decorating Fun

With Halloween coming up in the Fall I thought you might like to create an adorable Primitive Andy Frankenstein doll.  Don't worry. He won't scare anyone.

So, don't be frightened. He won't harm you. He's no scary Frankenstein!

In fact, he's basically harmless. He might be a "Frankenstein" in essence or appearance, but he considers himself just another "primitive."

Primitive Andy Frankenstein has a coffee stained cloth body and embroidered face with black bead eyes. He's wearing a coffee stained and fringed shirt with 3/4 length sleeves and large tattered and fringed pants with patches.

He's also sporting a wool felt vest with patches. He has a small tattered ribbon tied around his neck, and wild black cut hair along the sides and top of his head. Old buttons are used for his head bolts and raffia is tied on his legs and feet for his raggedy stripes.

"Primitive Andy Frankenstein" just loves the fact that he's coffee stained throughout. Why? Because it provides him with a wonderful tan on his face and a wonderful aroma everywhere he goes.

In fact, other primitives often ask where he got his "coffee glow" and his "coffee aroma."

Primitive Andy Frankenstein just boasts "My Linda" gave it to me. She's wonderful.

Primitive Andy Frankenstein might look like a regular Frankenstein, but he knows better. He knows he's a "not scary" and that makes him special.
