My Families Love Of Pillows and My Pinterest Quilting Tutorials Board

My mother, sister and I have been sewing for many, many years.  My sister and I learned from our mother at a very young age.  We started small and over the years both my sister and I, as well as our mother, honed our sewing skills and, as a result, ended up making many, many things including our own clothes, large quilts, small quilts, mini quilts, quilted pillows. place-mats and runners.

My sister continued her love of quilts by creating Inspired Creations By D quilted wall art.

After making a bunch of quilts that she gave away as gifts my mother gave up large quilts in favor of smaller pillows.  She loved making log cabin pillows like those shown in the picture at the beginning of this post.  She was happy to make the standard log cabin quilts and other quilted pillows until she learned how to make folded log cabin quilted pillows.  From that point on it was all folded log cabin pillows, table runners and place-mats.

She even took her love of log cabin quilts to the point where she was making miniature 8" by 8" pillows for my baby "Bud."  She made two of them just for him - one for downstairs in the family room when he was laying on the sofa and one for the chair we used as his bed upstairs.

He loved them and it was so adorable seeing him laying down with his head on his pillow.

My mother also liked making folded mini pillows, place-mats and table runners like the table runner shown in the picture above.

The first time I made a quilt I thought, "This is fun!" However, like making clothes I very quickly learned that I didn't want to spend a lot of time on large quilts and outfits to wear. I much preferred mini quilts and doll clothes, both of which were smaller and took a lot less time. I know, I know - I get bored easily and large quilts are very time consuming.  So, I focused more on making dolls and smaller quilts like pillows, place-mats, table runners, etc.

I took making pillows one step further when I started creating custom fabric designs for my Linda Walsh Originals Spoonflower shop. I made lots of pillows with my custom fabric designs like those shown in the picture collage above.

I had so much fun making my Sneaks Family custom fabric pillows for my grandsons for Christmas gifts one year I decided to create a free e-pattern for all of you so you could make some Sneaks Family pillows of your own.  If you'd like to make some of your own my free e-pattern is here.  Please note the design of the individual fabrics shown in the e-pattern have changed since that e-pattern was created.
For The Love Of Pillows

I also like looking at some of the beautiful free pillow creations there are out there as there are a lot of exceptional quilters and seamstresses on the web offering all sorts of "freebies" to inspire everyone else. There's a lot of quilting inspiration as well as pillow inspiration.

As a result I've collected a lot of pins on my Pinterest boards.  I have some on my Quilting Tutorials, Video's, Patterns and How-To's - Everyday Quilted Pillows Projects Pinterest board and a lot on all the different Quilting Tutorials, Video's, Patterns and How-To's Pinterest board sections I have.

There are 30 sections on my Quilting Tutorials, Video's, Patterns and How-To's Pinterest board.  The 30 sections are for everyday quilts to seasonal quilts to holiday quilts to specific types of quilts boards.

At last count I had over 2,000 quilted tutorial pins.  Definitely a lot of wonderful quilted eye candy to see and so much to learn.

I love learning new quilting techniques, watching quilting video how-to's, and reading quilting tutorials. I hope you do, too and hope you like my selection of quilt making how-to's, video's and tutorials.

If you love my Quilting Tutorials, Video's, Patterns and How-To's board please follow my board by clicking on the link above.

Hawk Family Oldest Children Softie Wool Felt Dolls Free E-Patterns and 3 in 1 Combo Free E-Pattern

If you love making softie cloth dolls then you're going to love our  “Penelope Pinhead Hawk, Dapper Devil Shamus Hawk and Ditsy Daisy Hawk” 3 in 1 combo e-pattern.

The "Egg Muff's" are a fun loving group of dolls that love to sneak around and maybe, every once in awhile, drop in unexpectedly. And,Toni E. Hawk and her brother, Tom A. Hawk, are the most fun loving of the group. You might find then peaking around a corner, peaking over the windowsill, peaking through a keyhole in a door, or sneaking into your room. You just never know.

Sometimes you might just catch a glimpse of their eyes and hair as they try to sneak a peak. If you listen carefully, you might even hear them laughing, even chuckling away. Sometimes you might even catch them doing a little jig. You just never know what they may do. They love to laugh. They love to have fun. But, most of all they love to play hide and peak!

No, not hide and seek! Hide and peak!

The 3rd, 4th and 5th oldest children (shown in the picture above) are Ditsy Daisy, Dapper Devil Shamus, and Penelope Pinhead.   Ditsy Daisy Hawk is the 3rd oldest and most assuredly the most "ditsy" of all the Hawk's. The 4th oldest is Dapper Devil Shamus Hawk and he is, well, a bit of a devil. He has a wicked sense of humor - in true Hawk fashion. The 5th oldest is Penelope Pinhead Hawk and she is every bit as lovely as as she is a pinhead. Common sense is not in her vocabulary.

The 5th oldest of the Hawk children is Penelope Pinhead Hawk and she is every bit as lovely as as she is a pinhead. Common sense is not in her vocabulary. She tries very hard to keep up with her older brothers and sisters but just can't keep up. Truth be told she's rather be reading a fashion magazine than playing pranks on everyone.

Penelope Pinhead Hawk is an 7" squared bottomed self-standing wool felt softie doll. She has a 1/2 white felt and 1/2 peach felt body. Her face is outlined and embroidered and she has large satin stitched eyes. Her nose is straight and embroidered as is her mouth, eyelashes and eyebrows. She has peach blushed cheeks.

Penelope Pinhead Hawk has a mass of curly blonde hair of the top of her pin head with the back of her head left bald. She is wearing her favorite light pink felt shirt with matching felt collar and favorite peach felt vest. A matching light peach felt bow looks lovely under her chin. She has a light peach felt bow on the top back of her head.

Penelope Pinhead Hawk's lack of common sense can get her into trouble at times. Luckily, she's as charming as she is lovely. When she turns no the charm you'll do anything for her.

The 4th oldest is Dapper Devil Shamus Hawk and he is, well, a bit of a devil.  He has a wicked sense of humor - in true Hawk fashion.  So, he has no problem holding his won with the twins - Tom A. Hawk and Toni E. Hawk.

Dapper Devil Shamus Hawk is an 8" squared bottomed self-standing wool felt softie doll. He has a 1/2 white felt and 1/2 dark blue felt body. His face is outlined and embroidered and he has cunning satin stitched eyes. His nose is pointy and embroidered as is his mouth, eyelashes and eyebrows. He has orange blushed cheeks.

Unlike his brother, Tom A. Hawk, Dapper Devil Shamus Hawk has a modified Mohawk style for his bright orange hair. He is wearing his favorite lime green Irish shirt with dark blue felt collar and favorite light blue felt vest. A matching dark blue felt bow-tie just adds style to his debonair-re outfit.

Dapper Devil Shamus Hawk can definitely hold his own in the Hawk family.  He's a Hawk, he's Irish, and he's definitely a rascal.  Perhaps the biggest Hawk rascal of all.

Ditsy Daisy Hawk is the 3rd oldest of the 11 children in the Hawk family and most assuredly the "ditsiest" of all the Hawk's eleven children. You can hardly blame her given she was born after the twins - Tom A. Hawk and Toni E. Hawk. Growing up just behind those mischievous two was anything but easy. For a long time she bore the brunt of their jokes.

Ditsy Daisy Hawk is an 8" squared bottomed self-standing wool felt softie doll. She has a 1/2 white felt and 1/2 dark purple felt body. Her face is outlined and embroidered and she has large satin stitched eyes. Her nose is pointy and embroidered as is her mouth, eyelashes and eyebrows. She has pink blushed cheeks.

Ditsy Daisy Hawk has a mass of burgundy hair along the side seams of her head with the back of her head left bald. She is wearing her favorite light purple felt shirt with matching felt collar and favorite light pink felt vest. A matching light pink felt bow looks wonderful under her chin.  She has four light pink bows in her hair.

Ditsy Daisy Hawk has had more than her fair share of pranks pulled on her by her older siblings and was ecstatic when she learned she was going to have a younger brother. Little did she know what a rascal he would be.

The Sneaks Family

It's always a wild and crazy scene at the "Sneaks Family" house with four young boys running around so you can imagine how excited they are by the release of their e-patterns and birthday party products. They can't sit down.

"Stealin Base Devin Sneaks"is a master at stealin base. You might think he's just on 1st base and then the next thing you know he's on 2ND and then 3RD. He's there in a split second and slammin into the base before the opposing team knows it. They don't get much faster at stealin base than "Stealing Base Devin Sneaks!"

"Stealin Base Devin Sneaks" is an 8" cloth and sneaker boy doll from The Sneaker Series.  He has a cloth head with an embroidered face. His face is outline embroidered and he has huge brown, black and white satin stitched embroidered eyes. His eyelids are satin stitched with cream embroidery floss. His nose is back stitched embroidered as are his mouth, eyelashes and eyebrows.   His cheeks are blushed pink.   He has thick, straight brown yarn hair under his red cap.

He likes to wear his sneakers facing forward and his head facing forward so he can get a jump start on stealin the base. And, of course, he always carried his favorite bat with him.

"Slammin Ryan Sneaks" just loves to hit it out of the park. He's trying for MVP of his little league team and practices batting constantly. He's so into slammin the ball out of the park that he's often heard saying "It's a home run! Way to go Slammin Ryan!" in his sleep.

"Slammin Ryan Sneaks" is a 9" cloth and sneaker boy doll from The Sneaker Series.

He likes to wear his sneakers facing forward so he can slamm the ball whenever he gets a chance. And, of course, he always carried his favorite bat with him.

"Nicholas Fast Ball Sneaks" just loves to hit it out of the park, too. Only he specializes in slammin the fast balls. He's always practicing at the batting cages with the machine on the fastest setting and has such a good eye for timing the hit that he can look away and still hit the fastest ball thrown at him. They don't get any faster than Nicholas. He's slammin fast!

"Nicholas Fast Ball Sneaks" is a 9" cloth and sneaker boy doll from The Sneaker Series. He has a cloth head with an embroidered face. His face is outline embroidered and he has huge blue, black and white satin stitched embroidered eyes. His eyelids are satin stitched with cream embroidery floss. His nose is back stitched embroidered as are his eyelashes and eyebrows. His cheeks are blushed pink.
His smiling mouth is outline embroidered and is stain stitched with pink embroidery floss. He has thick, straight brown yarn hair under is blue cap.

He likes to wear his sneakers facing forward and his head facing forward in order to see that fast ball coming straight at him. And, of course, he always carried his favorite bat with him.

"Home Run Brian Sneaks" only wants to get a home run. And, he doesn't really care how he goes about doing that. Stealing base, bunting, hitting it out of the park. It doesn't matter if it's him or his teammate who gets him to home base just as long as he gets there. He just loves the thrill of running over home plate.

"Home Run Brian Sneaks" is an 8" cloth and sneaker boy doll from The Sneaker Series.  He has a cloth head with an embroidered face. His face is outline embroidered and he has huge blue, black and white satin stitched embroidered eyes. His eyelids are satin stitched with cream embroidery floss. His nose is back stitched embroidered as are his mouth, eyelashes and eyebrows.   His cheeks are blushed pink. He has curly blond yarn hair under his blue cap.

He likes to wear his sneakers facing forward and his head facing forward in order to hit that ball out of the park for a "home run." And, of course, he always carried his favorite bat with him.

I Made More Toni E. Hawk Handmade Dolls

"Toni E. Hawk" is one of the members of the "Egg Muff Series" of cloth dolls. She also happens to be "Tom A. Hawk's" twin sister.

The "Egg Muff's" are a fun loving group of dolls that love to sneak around and maybe, every once in awhile, drop in unexpectedly. And, the Toni E.

"Toni E. Hawk" is a 10" squared bottomed self-standing country and cottage cloth doll. She has a muslin body and embroidered face with satin stitched black and white eyes. Her nose is pointy and embroidered and her mouth is embroidered with a 1/2 grin. She has rosy blushed pink cheeks, embroidered eyelashes and eyebrows.

Toni E. Hawk has a mass of burgundy hair on the very top of her head that runs straight down her back that is fashioned in a tomahawk style. It is her trademark and what she and her twin brother, Tom A. Hawk, are best known for.

Her dress is hemmed along the bottom and gathered along the neck edge. Her apron is fringed and tied around what could be considered her waistline with crinkled ribbon bow decorations. She has her favorite blue boa wrapped around her neck.

Toni E. Hawk might seem shy and well-mannered, but she is anything but. She is highly intelligent and loves a good joke. She isn't afraid of taking on her twin brother, Tom A. Hawk, or his best friend, Spike A Peek.

In fact, Toni E. Hawk actually comes up with the best thought out practical jokes around which makes her just a little bit intimidating to the other member's of the Egg Muff Series.

However, when everyone gets to laughing at Toni E. Hawk's latest gag everyone soon forgets how intimidated they are by her intelligence.
