Fun With Paper Dolls - New Christmas Mixed Media Art Picture Creations

As mentioned in my previous post, over a year ago JoAnn Robinson, who is an amazing artist, posted about some of the mixed media digital paper doll images that she had created.   I saw them and just fell in love with them.  They were just adorable and I knew I had to create something with them.

Jo is an online friend of mine from some of my Artful Gathering online classes who sells her digital art in her waifsNwhatnots Etsy store.  As I usually do I got carried away and ended up buying a lot of her digital images.  I just couldn't resist them.

Well, as craft projects usually go with me I wasn't able to play with them until a couple of weeks ago and play I did.  Jo's paper art doll images are just so much fun to create with and I couldn't resist creating mixed media art paper art doll pictures on art boards.

I wanted to create different seasonal and holiday picture decorations of various art board sizes and envisioned some would hang on my wall and some would be stand alone art pictures in picture stands.

I also wanted my mixed media pictures to create a 3d effect so I added a combination of collage images, sponge painting,  mixed media fibers, ribbons, buttons, 3d paper flowers, paper foliage, dried floral, and fringe.

Given that Christmas is my all time favorite decorating season I knew I would love all of Jo's Christmas paper art doll images.  So, when I saw Jo's paper art doll star angels and elf I knew I would be making some of them right away.  They were the first pictures I created.

I ended up making 3 pictures for the Christmas holiday decorating season and they are as follows:

A Mixed Media Art Picture For My Grandson

When I saw one of Jo's art doll digital images of a Victorian man in the moon I knew I had to make a picture from him as a graduation present present for my grandson.  He would be perfect as a handmade gift that I could give him and the words were definitely fitting for a college graduation.

Playing With Mixed Media Paper Dolls and Art Pictures For The Spring

I absolutely adored Jo's bunnies and decided to use two of them in one large art board picture for the wall in my farmer's porch.  I ended up making 2 pictures for the spring and summer decorating season and they are as follows:

I still have a lot left to create when I get a chance.  I'm not sure when that will be but I do, eventually, end up with some free time when I can play with Jo's paper art doll images again.

If you get a chance to visit Jo's waifsNwhatnots Etsy shop to see her adorable paper doll images I hope you end up playing like I did.  Way, way too much fun for a senior citizen to be having.... lol

My New Victorian Little Women Crafts Supplies Collection

By now you definitely know that I love anything and everything revolving around crafts.  Not just any crafts, but ALL crafts.

In fact, my bucket list is filled with different crafts I want to try.  It will take more than a lifetime so I know I won't get to trying everything, but it won't stop me from trying...lol

My latest crafts adventure revolved around the wonderful black and white illustrations from the 1880 Little Women free E-Book on the Project Gutenberg website that had more than 200 illustrations by Frank T. Merrill and a picture of the Home of the Little Women by Edmund H. Garrett.

As I started looking through the pages, looking at the beautiful black and white illustrations, and reading some of the chapters again I felt inspired and thought they'd make for some adorable toile mixed media, collage, decoupage  or paper-craft creations. So, I created fabric designs in 4 complimentary toile colors: black. white, burgundy, blue, and brown.

Of course, I didn't stop with just the fabric designs.

Au! Contraire!

I went on to create custom scrapbook designs, rubber stamps, vinyl stickers, paper stickers, wall decals, etc.
