Playing With Mixed Media Paper Dolls and Art Pictures For The Spring

As mentioned in my previous post, over a year ago JoAnn Robinson, who is an amazing artist, posted about some of the mixed media digital paper doll images that she had created.   I saw them and just fell in love with them.  They were just adorable and I knew I had to create something with them.

Jo is an online friend of mine from some of my Artful Gathering online classes who sells her digital art in her waifsNwhatnots Etsy store.  As I usually do I got carried away and ended up buying a lot of her digital images.  I just couldn't resist them.

Well, as craft projects usually go with me I wasn't able to play with them until a couple of weeks ago and play I did.  Jo's paper art doll images are just so much fun to create with and I couldn't resist creating mixed media art paper art doll pictures on art boards.

I wanted to create different seasonal and holiday picture decorations of various art board sizes and envisioned some would hang on my wall and some would be stand alone art pictures in picture stands.

I also wanted my mixed media pictures to create a 3d effect so I added a combination of collage images, sponge painting,  mixed media fibers, ribbons, buttons, 3d paper flowers, paper foliage, dried floral, and fringe.

I absolutely adored Jo's bunnies and decided to use two of them in one large art board picture for the wall in my farmer's porch.  I ended up making 2 pictures for the spring and summer decorating season and they are as follows:

For this picture I added fiber embellishments, silk ribbon floral embellishments, paper flora embellishments and paper flower embellishments.

I absolutely love sponge painting and I tend to favor certain metallic paint colors for my sponge painting.  To my surprise, unconsciously, I ended up using metallic paints for Jo's Easter Lamb image picture that matched the jester art dolls I had created during the Artful Gathering 2019 Session 1 "Leonardo Loves Zia" Class by Christina Zinnia Galliher that I took two years ago.

I love how they look together and decided to remove the cross-stitch picture I usually had with them and replace it with my new mixed media lamb paper art doll picture.

They looked perfect with the two jesters and paper flowers I created based on that class, which are shown in the picture above.

For this picture I added fiber embellishments and ribbon embellishments.

Please stay tuned for my subsequent posts as they show in more detail the mixed media paper art doll pictures I created for the Christmas holiday season and as a present for one of my grandsons.

I still have a lot left to create when I get a chance.  I'm not sure when that will be but I do, eventually, end up with some free time when I can play with Jo's paper art doll images again.

If you get a chance to visit Jo's waifsNwhatnots Etsy shop to see her adorable paper doll images I hope you end up playing like I did.  Way, way too much fun for a senior citizen to be having.... lol
