Revisions to My Mixed Media Victorian Munchkin Art Dolls - Gail, Gertrude, and Gloria

Gloria, Gail, and Gertrude are a trio of sisters who just love to have fun. They love to dance, sing, play the piano, and hope one day to become actresses.

They are pleasantly plump mixed media Victorian collage art dolls that I made back in September 2014.

I wasn't totally happy with them as I thought the faces on two of the dolls were just a little too big and there wasn't enough definition between the bodies, head and hair on all three dolls.  The proportions were all off.   So, I decided to change them and add bonnets to the top of their heads for better overall proportions with the shelf sitter parts of their bodies.

The picture shown below is how they looked then:

Here's how they look now:

Gloria is the doll shown on the left in the 2nd picture from the top of this post above.  Here's how she used to look:

Here's how she looks now:

Gloria - 1 1/2" x 7" x 10" Handmade Mixed Media Victorian Collage Art Doll

Gloria is a 1 1/2" x 7" x 10" mixed media Victorian wood doll with a paper face, sponge painted wood body, purple painted finger nails, paper collage and embellished outfit, and fabric gathered and covered bamboo bonnet with bow, silk floral and decorative braid embellishments. Her sides and back are sponge painted and her outfit is an embellished paper collage adorned with white lace trim and ribbon bow around her neck. Her paper collage dress has a two layer center band adorned with raised blue dots. Her waistband is adorned with a white silk floral and her sleeves are adorned with lace trim, raised blue dots and ribbon bow. Her dress skirt is two layers and adorned with raised purple dot bangles with blue raised dots.

A beautiful shawl is wrapped around her shoulders and tied in a knot. Her light brown thick alpaca yarn hair from Rock Garden Alpacas Fiber is wrapped in a bun and adorned with white flower and leaves braid.  Her bonnet decorated with cloth bows, silk floral and decorative braid sits beautifully atop her head and is tied with a purple ribbon fastened into a bow on the right side of her neck.  Paper water lilies add charm to her collage outfit.  Baby blue and white ribbon is wrapped around her sponge painted wooden base.

The doll in the center of the 2nd picture at the start of this post is Gail.  Here's how she used to look:

I was never happy with her face so I decided to give her a paper-clay sculptured and painted face. Here's how she looks now:

Gail - 1 1/2" x 7" x 10" Handmade Mixed Media Victorian Collage Art Doll

Gail is a 1 1/2" x 7" x 10" mixed media Victorian wood doll with pink painted finger nails, a paper-clay sculpted and painted face, sponge painted wood body, paper collage and embellished outfit.  Her paper-clay sculpted and painted face has painted eyebrows, paper and painted eyes, painted eyelids, and paper and painted lips. The corner of her eyes are embellished with green glitter paint and her cheeks are blushed.  Her sides and back are sponge painted and her outfit is an embellished paper collage adorned with white lace trim around her neck embellished with a paper and pearl floral.  Her paper collage dress has a two layer center band adorned with raised white dots, waistband adorned with a paper flower, sleeves adorned with raised white dots, and two layer dress skirt adorned with lime green silk ribbon leaves.

A beautiful shawl is wrapped around her shoulders and tied in a knot. Her beautifully thick long black and white Boucle hand spun alpaca yarn hair from Rock Garden Alpacas Fiber is tied in two pigtails on the left and right sides of her head and adorned with the lime green silk ribbon leaves that adorn her dress. A floral bouquet and dove add charm to her collage outfit.  Green and white ribbon is wrapped around her sponge painted wooden base.

I just love the way Gail turned out.  She looks like a beautiful goddess doll to me now with her very unusual hair.  I hope you would agree.

Gertrude is the doll shown on the right in the 2nd picture from the top of this post above.  Here's how she used to look:
