It's really funny that I hate snow, but love snow-people - especially Victorian snow-ladies. Go figure!
I've been wanting to creating some large Victorian mixed media snow-ladies for awhile and finally decided the time was now or never. So, of course, I plunged right in and created some.
Lady Maisy is a delightful Victorian snow-lady who, unlike her creator, thinks snow and the winter season are the best times of the year. She loves spreading her enthusiasm for the winter season around and hopes her enthusiasm will be contagious.
I wouldn't bet on that for her creator...lol but, I admire her spunk in trying.
Lady Maisy is a large 17" tall Victorian snow-lady with a paper-clay head and collage body that resides atop a papier-mâché collage box. Her body is supported by a wood stained stand.
I sculpted her head out of paper-clay and painted her face with a combination of acrylic paint and watercolor paints. Modeling paste was used to create her eyebrows and Alene's True Snow was used to create a snowy effect to her whole body.
Lace and beaded trim as well as various fiber trims were used as decorations around her head.
Her arms were fashioned out of wire and wrapped paper and her scarf was wrapped around her neck and created out of decorative Christmas mesh with the ends tied in several knots.
Her middle and bottom body sections were created out of Styrofoam balls covered with collage papers which were then sponge painted with blue winter colors. Her bottom section also has Victorian collage images.
Her vest was fashioned out of blue felt and fastened with paper flowers in the front. In the back it is gathered in the middle of the back and adorned with a ribbon bow. Unfinished wood snowflakes that I embossed with glitter powder add adornments to the left and right hand side lapels of her vest.
Paper snowflake embellishments were added to her front and back and embellished with puffy paint dots. Decorative metallic ribbon is wrapped around her waist and tied in a bow along with a scrapbook paper saying.
Her papier-mâché collage box base is embellished with Alene's True Snow accents and white winter decorative flowers adorned with puffy paint dots.
Stencils were used on the front top of the box as well as paper snowflake flower embellishments.
Decorative metallic ribbon is wrapped around the bottom of the box and tied in a bow.

I was really pleased with the way Lady Maisy came out. She certainly is a cheerful ambassador for the winter snow season. Almost makes me like snow...lol ....NAH!
