My “Mabel - I Might!” Country Art Doll

"Mabel - I Might!" can and "Mabel - I Might!" will. She is strong and she is able and is a PROUD member of the “Gray Is Beautiful!” Club.

"Mabel - I Might" has wild, dark gray hair and always reminds me of "Rosie - The Riveter" from the WWII commercials. You know, the one on all the posters wearing a bandanna and forging steel. There isn’t anything that Mabel can’t do.

Mabel is all ready in her denim overalls for her job at the steel factory. But, she thinks that just because she forges steel doesn't mean she can't wear fancy bloomers.

So what if they show below her overalls? You got a problem with that?

If you do, take my advice, and don't tell Mabel.

Why? Because there isn't anything Mabel can't do once she puts her mind to it.

In fact, she proudly boasts that anything a man can do she can do better. Well, there a few things Mabel might not be able to do because of sheer physical strength limitations but I'm not about to tell her that.

Are you kidding? She can bench press 350 pounds. She might just decide to knock my head off just to prove her point.

That's, okay, Mabel. We believe you

She has wild gray hair that sticks straight out of the sides and top of her head. She has a cloth body, embroidered face with a wonderful smile, lace trimmed bloomers, denim jumper, and checkered shirt. She has a fringed bows tied around her neck and a fringed bow in her hair.

My Country Quilts - Mill Hill Cross-stitch Picture

Since Fall is one of my favorite seasons for decorating I am naturally drawn to Fall cross-stitch kits. Such is the case with the Country Quilts cross-stitch kit by Mill Hill - MH14-1621.

The Country Quilts Beaded Counted Cross Stitch Kit Mill Hill Buttons & Beads Autumn Series MH14-1621 pattern uses full and half counted cross-stitch and straight stitch highlighting as well as beads of various sizes for emphasis and depth. The Mill Hill patterns usually call for certain areas of the perforated paper to be left untouched like the background the border. In this case they were leaving sections of the brown perforated paper border untouched.

In embroidering the cross-stitch I decided to once again utilize the rectangular wood frame jig that my darling husband built for me that I could tape the edges of my perforated paper to. The wood frame jig is a rectangular embroidery hoop of sorts, but without bending the perforated  paper. He had made it out of 1/2" x 1" pine wood strips with an adjustable center strip that I used for this 5.25 x 5.25 square design.

I had learned from previous mistakes that I needed to draw diagonal lines to locate the exact center of the perforated paper as in previous perforated paper cross-stitch picture I have done the picture was slightly off center by a few holes which caused a problem with inserting the needles in the holes along one of the edges of my frame. So, I lightly drew a diagonal line across each corner with a pencil to get the center point of the perforated paper.

A lot of the cross-stitch 5.25" by 5.25" pictures I have made were finished in small 6 1/2" by 6 1/2" shadowbox frames with 5" by 5" openings that I had gotten at Michaels when they went on sale one year.  I used up all the shadowbox frames I had gotten that year and have been looking for them ever since and haven't found them again.

So, I decided to buy some 8" by 8" hand painted wood frames that Mill Hill created for their cross-stitch pictures.  This frame is bare bones.  There's no glass or plastic cover and there's nothing on the back to hold the picture into the frame.  They do, however, provide a thin 6" by 6" cardboard back and wood dowel for inserting in the holes in the back to allow for the frame to stand on it's own.  Of course, if you're going to hang this on the wall you'd just add a picture hanger to the back.

The directions did not include any instruction for finishing the back.  I decided to finish mine with 1/4" thick self sticking art needle-craft mounting foam.  I used an 8" by 10" by Pres-On sheet that I cut 6" by 6"with an X-acto knife to fit my picture.  Since the depth of the back of the frame for inserting the picture is 1/4" deep the 1/4" foam was a perfect fit for inserting it as well as the cardboard backing that came with the frame.

After adhering my cross-stitch picture to the 6" by 6" adhesive foam board that I bought I inserted it into the back of the frame and then inserted the 6" by 6" cardboard that came with the frame over it.  I taped the back of the cardboard with masking tape to hold it.

The green wood frame I chose to use is 8" by 8" so to totally finish the back I cut a piece of thick decorative paper 8" by 8" to entirely cover the back.  I rubbed purple color disappearing glue stick all over the back and then pasted my 8" by 8" decorative paper sheet on the back.  I signed by name and dated it and was done with finishing the back.  I used a pencil to stab the decorative paper I had glued to the back so I could insert the dowel into it so the picture would stand on it's own.

The pattern called for a rust colored wooden frame and for the border of the perforated paper to be left untouched like the picture shown below:

However, I don't like seeing the perforated sections for the border as I think it makes the cross-stitch picture look unfinished and opted instead to finish the border with a medium taupe DMC embroidery floss sewn as a half cross-stitch using three strands of the taupe floss.

The pattern called for outlining some of the clothes line with white and gold floss, the windows with white floss and sides of the porch roof with white floss.  I didn't think this was enough outlining emphasis so I decided to add more definition as follows:

1)  I back-stitched along the clothes line with 2 strands of white floss.
2)  I back-stitch outlined the sides of the tree with 2 strands of black floss.
3)  I back-stitch outlined along the porch roof, sides of the house, and top roof and chimney with 2 strands of the dark gray floss.
4)  I straight stitched all along the windows and window panes with 1 strand of the white floss.
5)  I back-stitch outlined the clothes line post with 2 strands of the dark gray floss.

While the end results of this design were wonderful some things in the kit and in the instructions could be improved upon so I'd like to offer the following constructive suggestions:

The cross-stitch chart was in black and white as was the floss color code and symbol key. Both were easy to read and very clear. While I had no problem with the chart and keys I did have a problem with the way the DMC floss was presented. All of the floss was tied together in one big knot so you had to separate the floss pieces yourself, sort them, and try to interpret which color belonged to which floss # and symbol key on the color chart.

If you only have a few colors to deal with this isn't a problem. However, if you have several different colors to choose from that are close in color then interpreting the chart can be tricky. You may assign the wrong color to the wrong symbol if the colors are too closely aligned like ecru and light beige. The key code chart should have contained the number of strands that were included in the kit so I would know how many strands I had for the different floss colors.

As I have done with other cross-stitch kits I've completed I had to design my own thread color sorter and symbol key. I took a piece of thin cardboard and cut a 1" x 9" long rectangular piece out to use as a thread sorter. I then punched holes in my cardboard strip in which to tie each of the different colors. Just above the hole I wrote the DMC floss # and just below the hole I added the respective cross-stitch symbol. I then inserted the floss threads that went with that # and symbol through the hole and tied them in a loose knot. This kit could be much improved if a thread sorter with respective #'s and symbols was provided.

The beads were contained within three small ziploc bags which was fine. The chart had footnote symbols to help distinguish which beads were within which bag.

The kit included a rooster button that was to be sewn to the bottom right corner of the picture.  The button was okay except it was glued to a small piece of cardboard which did not easily come off and the glue used had hardened and extended over the sides of the button.  I cut it with scissors and managed to make it presentable enough to use in my picture. I have found over time that the buttons used in the Mill Hill cross-stitch kits are usually of poor quality and the worst parts of the kits. Sometimes I use them sometimes I don't.

My results with the totally finished border and frame is shown below:

Despite the relatively small issues I had encountered with the kit I was happy with the way my Country Welcome turned out.

It took me 32 hours to complete this picture including the framing. As always, my comments are meant to be constructive to enable future purchasers to benefit from my experience and to enhance their ability to create a wonderful little cross-stitch design.

Christopher Cinnie and Christine Cinnie Folk Art Doll Ornaments - New Free E-Patterns

"Christopher Cinnie" and his sister, Christine Cinnie, just love to have fun. They love hanging around and watching everyone. They love playing and they love to participate in everything and anything. And, they love sports - especially, soccer.

They're problem is that they have cinnamon hands and feet and, well, this makes participating in everything and anything a little difficult. Not impossible - but, difficult.

"Christopher Cinnie" likes to play in the goalkeeper position in his soccer games because he love to defend his team's goal. The problem it's a little hard to defend with cinnamon hands and feet. So, he uses his whole body and is getting pretty good at it.

"Christine Cinnie" likes to play goalkeeper, too, but she hates it when the ball hits her so she always tries to deflect it with her back or butt. Sometimes she's successful. Sometimes she's not. But, she always gives it her best try.

While "Christine Cinnie" and "Christopher Cinnie" just love to play the game of soccer they realize their limitations and are always pleasantly surprised when they are able to deflect a ball with their back or butt. Maybe that accounts for their "sweet surprise" expression?

"Christopher Cinnie" is a 12" cinnamon rag-doll from our Cinnamon Series. He has a cloth body with the seams sewn on the outside like a rag-doll. He, of course, doesn't considers himself a rag-doll. He considers himself a soccer star.

Christopher has a drawn and watercolor penciled face with black eyes with light brown eyeshadow on his lids. His nose is water colored rust and has cross patched lines. His eyes are under shaded with yellow and white and his cheeks are blushed rust. His mouth is water colored red and his expression is one of "surprise!" He has three patches of rust colored yarn hair on the sides and top of his head with the back left bald.

Christopher is wearing his favorite blue print pants that are sewn rag-doll style with the seams on the outside and gathered at the waist. His favorite brown print shirt which is also sewn rag-doll style hangs outside his pants and gathered at the neck. His arms and legs are cinnamon sticks.

Christopher can be hung as an ornament and is perfect for any primitive, folk art, or country home decor.

My “Baby Nicky” Baby Boy Baby Shower Centerpiece Doll and Decoration

"Baby Nicky" was named after my grandson, Nicky, who I affectionately call "Noodles." Like his brother he too is adorable, cuddly, lovable, and has the most enviable head of brown curly hair that you'd ever want to see. I would give my eye teeth, so to speak, for his curly hair. He, on the other hand, would probably prefer my straight hair. Well, boys will be boys, and girls will be girls. We always want just the opposite, don't we?

My grandson "Nicky" was born premature at 31 weeks weighting 3 pounds 1 ounce and spent the first 9 weeks of his life in an intensive care unit. The nurses there were exceptional and treated Nicky as if he were one of their own. In fact, I began to wonder, at times, if they were dragging out his release just because they loved him so.

Fifteen minutes after Nicky was born his Dad took us in to the intensive care unit to see him. I couldn't get over how humanly perfect he was at just 3 pounds 1 ounce. He just looked like a very, very tiny little man. I don't know what I was expecting to see but, he just took my breathe away. Even then he had a full head of brown hair. It wasn't curly just yet but would be within a matter of time.

His Mom, who was my biggest fan besides my husband and my Mother, used to give me all Nicky's baby clothes and shoes for my dolls. I know she was hoping that they would all come back to her in one way or another in the form of a doll for her house. A lot did.

In any event, I just loved all Nicky's little baby clothes. There's just something special about tiny little Reeboks and little denims. I can remember shopping with her one day at a "Baby Gap" store. We went in and just laughed and laughed at how tiny everything was. I just loved all the clothes and so did she. We went shopping several times after that for clothes for Nicky and always came away laughing. Sometimes we bought some. Sometimes we just went to look and laugh.

So, I knew I wanted to create a doll that would remind me of Nicky and his full head of curly brown hair and his most adorable baby clothes. That's how "Baby Nicky" was born. Isn't he adorable? Don't you just want to grab all those curls? I do. In fact, I used to hate it when his father would cut all his curls off. I tried to teach "Nicky" to tell his Dad "Don't cut my Hair!" It didn't work. Maybe someday Nicky will realize how beautiful his head of curly brown hair is and leave it alone. Yeah, sure, Nana! Dream on!

Baby Nicky is a 20" baby boy doll pattern. Nicky is a free-standing boy doll in his pajamas and ready for bedtime. He has an undershirt, flannel jacket with long rolled sleeves and pipe trim, and flannel pajama bottoms. He has round black button eyes, a fabric covered wood head, wood body and wood feet covered with slipper socks. He has long curly brown hair and has a night cap knotted at the end on his head. He is carrying a teddy bear in his left hand and a cherished flannel blankie in his right hand.

Every time I look at the "baby Nicky" doll I can't help but remember how small and tiny "Nicky" was at 3 pounds 1 ounce and think "how precious life is!"

Baby Nicky is so adorable you just want to squeeze him. With that massive head of curly hair you can't help but love him. He's the perfect image of a cute baby boy. And, he's all ready for his bedtime story. He has his "blankie" and his "teddy" so he's all set to go. Will you read him a story?

Baby Nicky is so adorable you just can't resist him. My “Susan Renee - My Beautiful Gray” Primitive Art Doll

Susan is a big, big, big snob. Can't you tell that already?

She wants to be called "Susan Renee" and not just "Susan."

Well, whoop-de-do, I say!"

Susan, Oh, excuse me.... Susan Renee is extremely demanding, articulate, knowledgeable, well-read, wealthy and aggressive. She has a mind for business and knows where every penny of her fortune is.

And, if you want to inherit some of that then you have to earn it. Don't try to contradict her or disagree with her for "Susan Renee" is always right.

She wears her beautiful head of gray hair proudly. She has earned every gray hair on her head and is proud of it.

Susan Renee knows what she wants and, always, gets it. Her goal in life is to sit on the board of the top 5 Fortune 500 companies.

She has a mass of straight gray hair all over her head which she has fastened into a bun on the back of her head and adorned with a ribbon tied in a bow. She is a free standing doll with a cloth body and embroidered face, light blue buttons for eyes, lace trimmed slip, lace trimmed dress with a ruffle on the bottom and a lace trimmed center strip adorned with 5 large buttons, large wired ribbon bow which adorns the lower part of her dress, and an old tattered lace trimmed hanker-chief for a shawl. She is coffee stained throughout.

“Susan Renee” can be very judgmental.

Swing Sweetly Annabelle Boudoir Doll

"Blue Bell Sara" and her sorority sister "Swing Sweetly Annabelle" are two of the newest dolls from my new "The Long Sleek Sitting Doll Series!" Both are elegantly attired and ready for their afternoon walk. "Blue Bell Sara" is wearing the finest in Victorian afternoon attire and is an elegant faceless Victorian doll who went prematurely gray. "Swing Sweetly Sara", on the other hand, is wearing her best Colonial attire for an afternoon stroll and has a beautifully embroidered and water colored face as well as a full head of burgundy colored hair.

Both dolls belong to the "Only Elegance Alpha Phi E" sorority as did both their mothers and several of their grandmothers before them. So, they really had no choice in the matter as it was wholly expected of them that they would join. So, join they did and both are reporting that they are so happy to be part of such a wonderful and elegant sorority. Neither, in accordance with their sorority rules, will tell you what they've been up to though. It's a secret and only discussed among sorority members! The only thing they will say is that they have an upcoming event, which everyone will surely enjoy, but which they can't and won't talk about.

"Swing Sweetly Annabelle" is a 26" Colonial cloth doll with an embroidered face. Her face is outline embroidered and her brown eyes are completely embroidered. Her eyelids are embroidered with a light taupe floss. Her eyebrows and eyelashes are embroidered and her cheeks are blushed and rosy. Her lips are outlined with black and embroidered with coral floss. She has a long sleek body, long sleek arms, and long sleek legs with black cross tied boots.

Her bloomers with gathered lace trim along the bottom hem edge are gathered at the waist and ankles. Her slip has gathered eyelet lace trim along the bottom hem edge and is gathered at the waist. "Swing Sweetly Annabelle" is wearing a coordinated ensemble. Her sleeves are two-sectional and consist of faced cuffs and a large puffy sleeve gathered at the shoulder. They are gathered at the wrists as well. Her pleated in the front dress has gathered eyelet lace trim and straight lace trim along the bottom hem edge. It is gathered at the neck edge and adorned with lace trim. A lined waistband is wrapped tightly around her tiny waist and adorned with a fabric scrunch of coordinating fabric. Her coordinated and lined vest is lace trimmed around the edges and tied in the front with two DMC embroidery bows.

"Swing Sweetly Annabelle" has a full head of brown curly hair that is barely controlled under her lined and coordinated bonnet with a very large brim. Ribbon and lace trim adorns the bonnet band and multi-colored and coordinating yo-yo's adorned the very top of her bonnet. Her bonnet ties are wrapped around her neck and tight in a large bow to the right of her head. An old handkerchief is wrapped around her shoulders and around her arms for a shawl.

Unlike "Blue Bell Sara", "Swing Sweetly Anabelle" doesn't want to be president of the "Only Elegance Alpha Phi E" sorority. She leaves that up to "Blue Bell Sara" as she knows that "Blue Bell Sara" would be good at that. However, she prefers to sit and enjoy her afternoon tea and a good book. Drinking a wonderful cup of tea while reading a good book and swinging on the sorority house porch swing on a beautiful sunny day. Well, it just doesn't get much better than that for "Swing Sweetly Annabelle." Care to swing with me?

Both Betty & Bobby have enormous heads and the most inviting and happy smiles you'd ever want to see.

Each head is embroidered with black DMC Embroidery floss. The enormous, smiling mouths are outlined with black floss and painted with white acrylic paint. The eyes are embroidered with black floss. Bapsy's cheeks and nose are blushed and shaded. Billy's cheeks are blushed and shaded.

Bapsy's head sits on top of a pink wooden spool with a white crochet collar and the words "It's A Girl!" painted on the front. She has curly blond hair and is wearing a knit and gathered cap with a folded edge. Pink bows are used as an adornment.

Billy's head sits on top of a blue wooden spool with a kerchief tied around the top and the words "It's A Boy!" painted on the front. He has brown mohair  hair and is wearing a knit and gathered cap with a folded edge. Blue bows are used as an adornment.

Billy and Bapsy's baby shower favors are easy to do and make great items for your baby shower guests to take home for future pincushion use.

I just love our baby heads collection.  Don't you?

Chef Andy - Head Chef To The Stars Primitive Boy Doll

"Chef Andy - Head Chef To The Stars!" won't be cooking for the "STARS" today. You see, he and many other chefs are all getting ready for the "Emergency Worldwide Disaster Drill." They're job is to feed all the medical doctors, nurses, emergency personnel, patients, etc. Even the animals. Basically, everyone and anyone who needs to be fed. It's a tall order, but Chef Maurice can handle it. He figures that if he can handle a snooty, demanding "star" - he can handle anyone. Including a 5-star general. Well, maybe not the 5-star general. He or she might be a little intimidating. Everyone else - no sweat. 5-star generals? Hmmmmm.....

"Chef Andy - Head Chef To The Stars!" is a 17" primitive raggedy Andy cloth chef doll. He has a muslin body and embroidered face with black and white satin stitched eyes, red satin stitched nose, and an outline embroidered mouth with red stain stitched lips. His eyebrows are embroidered as are his eyelashes and he has rose blushed cheeks. His boots are black and cross-laced. Chef Andy has a mass of raggedy straight red yarn hair glued all over the top and back of his head. His puffy chef's cap is lined, has a center band and gathered puff top, and is attached to the top and back of his head. He is wearing a sleeveless tee shirt that is gathered at the neck. His chef pantaloons are puffy, tightly fasted at the knees and gathered at the waist. His double breasted and lined shirt waist chef's jacket sports 3 rows of 2 buttons each. He is carrying his favorite cooking book and trademark rolling pin.

"Chef Andy - Head Chef To The Stars!" has his hands cut out for him. Cooking for hundreds of thousands is no problem for Chef Andy. It's keeping the thousands of chef's under him in line and on time. Chef Andy knows that chef's have a tendency to spend too much time on their food creations and knows that during an emergency the idea is to get the food out there to feed the starving masses - not worry about if it looks appetizing and pretty on the plate. He can worry about the latter when he goes back to cooking for the "Stars" but, not when cooking for hungry 5-star generals. There are "stars" and there are the REAL 5- stars.

My Josephine Victorian Faceless Lady Art Doll

Sometimes even designers have to admit they have favorite creations. They don't like to because they like to think that all of their creations are their favorites. It's kind of like mothers who when asked: "Mom, am I your favorite child?" reply with, "I love you all the same." So, while I do love all my creations I do have to admit that some more than others just appeal to me. Just don't tell the "dollies" I said that. There will be sibling rivalry like unbelievable in our house if they find out. In any event, Josephine is one such creation.

I don't know whether it's her red hair or her green outfit with all the filly lace or both. There's just something beautifully appealing about her. Josephine is a free-standing Victorian lady doll who can hardly wait for spring to show off her new toilette. When she saw it in the Godey Fashion Magazine she knew she had to have it. It was in her favorite color, after all. And, not too many outfits that season were in green. But, she knew that it would look wonderful on her and really highlight her beautiful red hair. So she ordered it and asked that it be sent as soon as possible.

Josephine is a 13" Victorian wood and cloth doll. Her arms are wire-shaped and covered. She also has a painted wood head and covered round wood base. Her inner body is made from a dowel covered with fabric and eyelet lace which is also covered by a gathered and lace trimmed slip. Josephine is wearing a coordinated green outfit which consists of a lined jacket with large puffy sleeves, lined & fitted vest, large lace trimmed ruffled blouse with bow, and a multi-tiered lace trimmed and gathered skirt with floral decorations. Her beautiful red hair is fastened in a bun and is highlighted by a ribbon & floral trimmed lined hat with a large bow on the back. She is carrying a multi-tiered lace trimmed parasol.

Josephine thinks she looks quite fetching in her beautiful green outfit and hopes you agree. She doesn't mind being one of Linda's favorites. Just don't tell the other "dollies."

My "Joy" Victorian Faceless Lady Art Doll

My Mother was a beautiful woman inside and out so when I was thinking of a design for a doll named after my mother I wanted to create something beautiful. Something elegant. Something to define the beauty of my Mother. So, "Joy" was born.

Joy is a 14" free-standing doll all dressed up and waiting to impress her friends with the latest in Paris fashion. She's been itching to wear her new outfit for weeks now but was waiting for the weather to get a little warmer for a nice stroll down the avenue. But, mother nature hasn't been cooperating and this wasn't an outfit that could be worn in the snow. So, Joy has been patiently awaiting the arrival of Spring. And, today it finally arrived.

"Joy" is a cloth and wood doll with a painted wood head and covered round wood base. Her arms are wire-shaped and covered. Her inner body is made from a dowel covered with fabric and eyelet lace. She has a lace trimmed slip that is gathered at the waist. She is wearing a very fancy lace trimmed dress with puffed sleeves and both a large & small lace and ruffled trimmed over skirt. Her beautifully coordinated lined jacket with puffed up long sleeves has double tiered lace trim along the front edge and lace & ribbon trim along the bottom edge. Covering her shoulders is a fancy lace trimmed and lined shawl. Her lined jacket and lined shawl are both tied at the front with ribbons. She has long curly hair which is tied at the nape of her neck. Her bonnet is lined and has fancy lace & floral trim along the cap. She is carrying a fancy lace trimmed parasol.

It's a beautiful day for a stroll along the avenue and Joy is hoping that all her friends will be out so she can impress them with her beautiful new fancy outfit. She's got her fingers crossed. Mother nature better not disappoint her today.

My Penelope Pumpkin Lady - Victorian Pumpkin Art Doll

Penelope Pumpkin Lady is just the sweetest pumpkin lady you'd ever want to meet. She's very refined and loves dressing in her finest Victorian outfit and sipping English Breakfast Tea with scones. For her life doesn't get any better than that.

Penelope's pumpkin friends get angry at her because she doesn't spend any time in the pumpkin patch with them. She tries to explain to them that the pumpkin patch is not a place for a refined lady, especially one wearing her finest Victorian outfit. And, the bonnet - well, there's no way she'd wear that in the pumpkin patch. So, she tries to coax her friends into having tea and scones with her. It's not an easy sell as they like being outside in the pumpkin patch and hope that Penelope will one day come to her pumpkin senses and join them. They've got their fingers or should I say stems crossed.

Penelope Pumpkin Lady is a 19" cloth pumpkin head lady doll with a beautifully embroidered round head and self-sitting square bottom body. Her orange pumpkin hands and feet match her orange body and round orange head. Her beautiful pumpkin head is outlined and indented with dark brown floss to create the affect of a pumpkin. She's wearing black boots that are criss-crossed with embroidery floss for laces.

She is wearing eyelet lace trimmed bloomers gathered at the waist and upper calf. Her multi-colored dress coordinates beautifully with her large eyelet lace trimmed lined bonnet with gathered lace trim, silk floral, and ribbon decorative accents.

Her beautiful dress skirt matches the outside of her bonnet and her dress bodice matches the lining of her bonnet. Her dress has a beautiful eyelet lace trimmed dress insert and eyelet lace and ribbon trimmed dress sleeves. It is gathered at the neck and waist and has 3 accent buttons on the dress insert and a wide ribbon wrapped around the waist and tied in a bow in the front.

Her beautiful coordinating jacket is eyelet lace and ribbon trimmed along all the edges and the sleeves and is fastened together with a beautiful ribbon and bead floral decoration.

Penelope is as Victorian and refined as a pumpkin can be. She just wishes her pumpkin friends would join her for afternoon tea. Perhaps one day they will. She's hoping.

“Elsa” Victorian Faceless "Lady" Bridal Art Doll

Elsa is a free-standing doll all ready for her wedding day.

It's the first of October so she's hoping that it will be a bright and sunny day as she wants to look her best. She chose October as it shouldn't be rainy, shouldn't be snowy, and shouldn't be hot. However, she fastened her hair in a bun just in case it were to rain.

Her beautiful, thick head of flaming red hair tends to frizz on a rainy day unless it's contained in a bun. So, for her wedding day she's taking no chance. A bun it will be.

She has a long, fancy lace trimmed dress with a flowing train, and eyelet lace covered puffed and lace trimmed long sleeves. Her wedding gown also has an eyelet lace and gathered full length dress front insert with ribbon floral lace trim. Her veil is made of & fancy lace and floral. Underneath her gown she is wearing a lace trimmed slip.

She has a painted wood head and covered round wood base. Her inner body is made from a dowel covered with fabric and eyelet lace. Her arms are wire-shaped and covered.

Her red hair with bangs is fastened into a bun. Two large floral and lace pieces adorn the top of her veil and bodice of her dress. She is carrying a bouquet of flowers with streamers.

So far there are no signs of rain. Elsa has her fingers crossed. She just wants a beautiful wedding day.

My “Mary Elizabeth" Victorian Faceless "Lady" Art Doll

Mary Elizabeth just loves her twin sisters: Mary Elizabeth Loves Black and Mary Elizabeth Loves White. She doesn't even mind that they idolize her. They always want to wear the same outfit as their big sister does. However, when it comes to the color of their hair this is where they differ. You see, Mary Elizabeth Loves Black wants her hair color to be black and Mary Elizabeth Loves White wants her hair color to be white. So, instead of dying their natural hair color, which is dirty blonde and the same color as Mary Elizabeth's they decided to buy different color wigs.

"Mary Elizabeth White" is 13" a free-standing Victorian doll all ready for her summer friends. She is wearing her favorite 1894 Paris Summer Gown. She has a two-tiered pointed and lined jacket with a 3-tiered collar, long puffed & color coordinated cuffed sleeves, lace and ribbon waistband and silk floral closure. Her fancy lace & floral lined hat with a large ribbon tied in a bow, floral decoration, and feather sits lovingly upon her head. Her beautiful blue laced trimmed dress has a lined train, lace collar, and silk floral decoration. Her curly white hair with bangs is fashioned into a bun and she is carrying a lace trimmed parasol. Her arms are wire-shaped and covered. She also has a painted wood head and covered round wood base. Her inner body is made from a dowel covered with fabric and eyelet lace. She has a two-tiered pointed and lined jacket with a 3-tiered collar, long puffed & color coordinated cuffed sleeves, lace and ribbon waistband and silk floral closure. When it comes to hair and hair color Mary Elizabeth's sisters think they are experts at matching the right hair color wig to the right complexion. Mary Elizabeth is not so sure. She much prefers her natural blonde hair.
